Omizs (real name Nazim Selka) is one of those guys who can do it all. A rapper, photographer and muse, he’s been a lifelong music lover, inspired by his mother, who listened to a lot of raï (popular in Algeria) when Nazim was growing up. He’s also the founder of Omizs Party, and is always chilling at one of Paris’ hotspots like Club Pamela or Kayrose Kitchen. Omizs has also been featured in publications like Pan African Music and Initial Magazine (and now Social Capital! Hopefully we can convince him to collab with us soon…). Meet Omizs. 

Can you introduce yourself in a few sentences?

My name is Nazim Selka, I was born in Algeria, I'm an artist in general, I make music, I'm a photographer and film director. My goal is to give love and good energy to the world. 

What do you do for work? 

I will like to say that I make people dance ! 

How did you get to where you are today?

Hard work and determination made me believe in my project and my dream. Now I'm here and I hope it will continue, because this is just the beginning.

What does living a good life mean to you?

For me, living a good life means having your family and loved ones around you. 

What’s something you’d love in 5 years?

I would love to have my own festival !

Who’s someone you look up to? 

My father. 

What’s the best life lesson you’ve learnt? 

When I was a kid, I was a fan of a rap group called La MZ. I went to see THEIR concert when I was 13, and 10 years later I did THE album cover for JOKAi'r, the main artist. Just goes to show that in life you have to believe in your dreams and that everything is possible.

What do you dream about?

I dream of continuing to do what I love for many years to come. I want to live a long life and grow old with my wife. 

What is one thing you recommend?

A good entourage (friends, manager, etc.) and a healthy lifestyle
